For many years, King David Mowbray Golf Club has proudly been the home of the South African Disabled Golf Association (SADGA). More than just a golf course, KDM has become a place of opportunity, inclusion and hope for golfers with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities.
The club’s accessible facilities, welcoming environment and dedicated staff have created a home that is exceptionally difficult to replace. Beyond the infrastructure, it is the culture of understanding and support that has allowed disabled golfers to thrive.
KDM has earned a reputation as South Africa’s home of disabled golf, hosting prestigious events including a World Invitational, numerous All Abilities Golf Tour (AAGT) tournaments, the Cape Town Disabled Open, and this year’s G4D South African Open. The club is also the hub for SADGA’s development programmes, where aspiring golfers receive coaching, assessments and opportunities to build confidence, independence and life skills through the game.
None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of KDM’s members, management and staff. Through volunteering, fundraising and everyday encouragement, the club has built a community where every golfer feels they belong.
The proposed loss of King David Mowbray would have far-reaching consequences for disabled golf in South Africa. Relocating would disrupt development programmes, coaching initiatives and player participation, while decades of relationships, accessibility and institutional knowledge could not easily be recreated elsewhere.
As members of King David Mowbray, you have helped build this remarkable legacy. We encourage you to continue sharing the story of what this club means—not only to its members, but to the thousands of lives that have been transformed through golf.
Together, we can help preserve a place that has become synonymous with opportunity, inclusion and excellence in disabled golf. Please stand with SADGA and help protect the future of King David Mowbray Golf Club.
