Golf Data Update: July 2026

So far, this winter has delivered the cool, wet conditions typical of a Cape Town winter, with regular cold fronts bringing slightly below average rainfall but convincingly cool temperatures that have drasticly reduced irrigation demand. While these conditions have been beneficial, our attention is already turning to the coming summer.

Climate agencies are now indicating that El Niño conditions are expected to strengthen through the remainder of 2026. Although El Niño does not determine our day-to-day weather, it increases the likelihood of a hotter, drier summer, with more frequent heatwaves, higher evaporation rates and increased pressure on our irrigation requirements. In preparation, the course management team continues to focus on improving water efficiency, strengthening turf resilience and planning maintenance practices that will help the course remain healthy and playable should these conditions develop. As always, we will adapt our management practices as the season unfolds to present the best possible playing surfaces while using our resources responsibly.
